What does it mean to work curatorially from a situated perspective? Five curators from Barcelona and Catalonia are visiting Stockholm and Göteborg to meet artists, curators – observing the Swedish artistic context. In this talk, they will reflect on the specificities given by language and cultural-political ecosystem. Participating curators: Zaida Trallero,
Beatriz Escudero, Sergi Álvarez Riosalido, Julia Coelho and Anna Pérez.
Their research trip is the first chapter of Situated residencies, bringing curators first to Sweden, and in a later installation, to Barcelona. This initiative is organized by ACCA (Art Critics Association in Catalonia) together with XAV (Network of art centres in Catalonia) and Index – The Swedish Contemporary Art Foundation. IASPIS collaborates with Index for the invitation of two of the curators through its International Expert Visits Programme, as well as for the presentation at IASPIS.
An Open Call for Sweden based curators to visit Barcelona and Catalonia will be announced soon. More information about this call will be presented during the gathering.
The gathering is followed by Ruin Desire / Celebration: A Talk with Marina Otero Verzier, from 17:30 to 20:00 at IASPIS.
