About this Event
With a knack for blending sweet vocal melodies with interwoven guitars, Night School has been gaining attention for their dreamy indie sound and fun visuals. This all-girl, pet-obsessed 4-piece of earth-signs arrived at their current configuration by being introduced via friends separately over a 7-year period. Alexandra Morte (Velvet Gentleman, Camera-Shy) is the original member from 2013, followed by Cheyenne Avant (Fawning), Cara LP (MOGGS, Miss Minor), and Sarah Vyeda (who’s been playing guitar for years but this is her first band and experience with songwriting!).
Hailing from Oakland, CA, Night School's had a steady presence sharing the stage with acts such as Phoebe Bridgers, Best Coast, and Nothing. Their 3rd full-length album, Invoke (out this fall), is best described as bedroom rock since they recorded from each of their homes. But with wide technical access and mixing by Nick Bassett, the album sounds much larger than 4 walls. Be sure to check out their video, Juniper, for the first single where they turn a sweet photoshoot into a flower massacre.
In 2018, Sit Pretty formed in a weathered, dimly lit basement decorated with string lights, neon signs and a creative space/DIY studio catered for house shows and hang outs. Founding members Brett Smith and Chris Faulconer recruited Delaney Smith and Bennett Mohler who they worked with in previous musical endeavors. Together they began recording their first EP titled “The Caws Pobi EP” followed by their first full length album “On Wednesdays and Sundays”. From 2020 - 2021, they recorded two singles "New Normal" and "The Out Crowd" and their second full length album “Self/Care”; their works drawing inspiration from the electric, rhythmic, atmospheric sounds of the 80s and post-rock, pop influences from the 90’s. In 2022, after Faulconer departed, they acquired new member/bassist David Alvarado for future recordings and live shows. All four members cut their teeth on the Pacific Northwest music scene in various projects for over a decade. Playing shows in Portland, Seattle, Eugene, Salem, Olympia and parts of northern California such as San Francisco.
is like stumbling into a neon-lit dreamscape where nostalgia and melancholy dance hand in hand. Their sound is a lush blend of hazy shoegaze textures and shimmering indie pop, swirling together in a sonic cocktail that's both introspective and intoxicating. With reverb-soaked guitars that seem to echo from the distant corners of a forgotten memory and vocals that drift like a soft breeze through the haze, each track pulls you deeper into its atmospheric embrace. It's music for rainy afternoons and late-night drives, where every note feels like a moment suspended in time, simultaneously bright and brooding. The album radiates a vibe that's both retro and refreshingly new, perfect for those who like their melodies drenched in emotion and their rhythms wrapped in a velvet fog.
