About this Event

We're delighted to invite you to be part of our Winter 2025 SisterZ Advocates Programme!

Our four week course will help you learn practical advocacy tools so you can feel more confident and capable when managing your health and that of your family.


Dates and times: Thursday mornings at Canterbury & District Early Years Project, 11A South Street, Canterbury CT1 1EA:

  1. 6th November at 9.45 for refreshments for 10-11.30am session
  2. 13th November at 9.45 for refreshments for 10-11.30am session
  3. 20th November at 9.45 for refreshments for 10-11.30am session
  4. 11th December at 9.45 for refreshments for 10-11.30am session.

NB. This is a four session course and it is important that you attend all four sessions. Plese do check the dates to see if you are available on all four dates.

This practical, interactive course will give you lots of tools and ideas to help you learn to advocate for yourself and on behalf of your friends and family.


Course content:

Week 1 What is self-advocacy? Why does it matter?

Recognising your own strengths, challenges and needs so you can speak up for yourself.


Week 2 Speaking up for yourself:

Increase your ability and confidence to speak up about your needs and preferences to people who can help, such as teachers, doctors, or employers.


Week 3 Speaking up for others:

Listen to the needs of your friends and family, so you can support them to self-advocate or speak up on their behalf.


Week 4 Celebrating the wins and supporting each other:

Celebrate together as we support each other to grow in confidence and advocate for what really matters.


In every session we will have time for refreshments, discussion and you will also learn a different self care tool and an active listening tool.

Keji Moses your host is the founder and CEO of . She is an award winning mental health and well-being champion and wellness advocate. It is her vision and fund raising that has made the SisterZ Advocates Programme possible.

Mayahs legacy gives women the tools, words, and confidence to speak up for themselves, their health, and their families. They produce webinars and resources such as the Self Advocacy Toolkit - Tapping Into Your Intuition and be Confident.

Aileen White your trainer, is the founding director of My Birth Support CIC. She is a fully qualified teacher with over 29 years of experience teaching children, young people and adults.

Aileen has lived experience in advocating for herself, family and friends in the context of:

  • pregnancy, birth, birth trauma and birth injury
  • SEND process and schools
  • with employers
  • mental health and supporting those who ahve been sectioned
  • fostering and
  • cancer diagnosis and care.

Alongside the SisterZ Advocates programme, she offers perinatal mental health support (perinatal means before and after birth) to parents in Canterbury District and online. Last year she also became an Ambassador for the KCC – led Trauma Informed Kent Initiative.

My Birth Support CIC, offers support to vulnerable, neurodiverse and disabled parents in Canterbury and online through a range of weekly and monthly parenting groups. Their specialist My Birth Recovery and My Baby support also helps support who have had a traumatic birth or those who are living with loss.
