Starting on Wednesday 24th July for eight weeks
This set of workshops which has now been running for three years. It offers women a safe space to practice verbal and physical skills to build confidence in assertiveness and awareness in the face of misogyny and gender based violence.
Each week the workshops offer a physical element that incorporates a little fitness with simple techniques to become a toolbox of options in the face of aggression and harassment.
We will also use our voice and our physical presence to empower ourselves in a supportive environment.
The workshops tackle different elements of the female safety experience. Street safety;threat assessment ; the freeze, the faun, the flight, the flop and fight; control through blame and gaslighting and predatory conduct are all discussed.
We break down entitlement, misogyny, and toxic masculinity and explore the harmful effect on all of our lives. This helps shift away from the harm of a culture of victim blaming and places responsibility firmly with society and its enabling of the aggressor. We encourage listening to our instincts to identify micro aggressions that can red flag potential conflict. We play games, we move and we shout, and explore de escalation verbal skills and body language in the face of difficult and challenging situations.
And at the base end of it all, we explore the body's strength, whatever body we inhabit, to use force to escape to safety.
