On the 24th of June Red Tent Otepoti Dunedin Sistar Circle will explore the relationship between our throat, our voice and our womb through the practice of chanting. The throat and the womb are intimately connected through physical, neurological, and emotional pathways. Anatomically, the vagus nerve links the brainstem to the pelvic organs, while fascial tissue directly connects the jaw and throat to the pelvic floor.
Chants weave ancient rhythms with contemporary empowerment, honouring cyclical wisdom and sisterhood. Our vocal gatherings serve as sanctuaries of rest and collective voice, bridging ancestral lineages with modern healing.
The throat and the womb are intimately bound,
Two sacred cauldrons of echo and sound.
One shapes the vibration of spoken belief,
The other holds silence, creation, and grief.
What is swallowed in secret, unuttered and deep,
The womb in her quiet will faithfully keep.
For the voice that is stifled, the truth we withhold,
Are stories the body is forced to retold.
They speak to each other in whispers below,
Where the waters of feeling ebb and flow.
The neck is the bridge, the open highway,
Where the soul finds its power to create and to say.
When the throat finds its courage, the womb is set free,
An ancient, unbroken, and pulsing decree.
To chant what is hidden, to release what is bound,
Uniting the magic of silence and sound.
We gather at 7pm at Ayu Community Space, 7 Crawford Street, Dunedin and your expression of attendance is required.
