Join us for our May Social!

The idea for SIRENS Socials emerged from our core values of collaboration, interdisciplinarity, and amplification for women and was one of the key drivers for creating our community.

We work hard to provide a different type of networking space filled with interdisciplinary and intersectional connection, learning, inspiration, and celebration between women across sectors and backgrounds. We prioritise inclusivity, accessibility, and camaraderie in the planning of every event.

SIRENS Socials are free to attend and take place from 5-9pm the last/fourth Thursday of every other month at different locations across Manchester. Each Social has a theme and feature as well as opportunities for networking. SIRENS Socials are women/non-binary-only spaces and centre around connecting women.
We're revealing this one a little earlier than usual...
For our May Social, we are throwing a SIRENS Spring Fete at the wonderful and marvellous !

We’re taking over both floors of the venue to put on a massive array of stalls, entertainment, and nourishment for our gorgeous SIRENS community. Our fete will showcase a pink brick road of stalls from academics and thinkers sharing their ideas and research; artists selling their pieces and crafts; businesses and charities promoting their goods and services; and a number of other interactive and varied stalls to peruse, kicking off at 5pm!
Entertainers will roam the fete throughout the evening, brandishing their talents and keeping us impish, intrigued, and inspired before we host a pageant of longer performances from three artists working in different mediums at 7pm.
Our fete will also feature our own SIRENS stall; SIRENS soundtracks; locally sponsored food; and our usual lovable chaos & connections until 9pm.

PINK are kindly sponsoring the space, event support, & their trusty pop-up bar!

PINK is an incredible new non-profit, collaborative gallery and studio space in Stockport, founded and directed Katy Morrison - Manchester Artist, Researcher, and true SIREN sister! With support from PINK's advisory board and designer Nick Booton, Katy has created a dedicated project space for exhibitions, research, and curatorial residencies, in which she also manages and delivers a stunning programme of events and exhibitions. The PINK bar will be open and drinks (alcohol and alcohol-free) will be available to purchase throughout the event.
We’ve been plotting to collab with PINK for some time now and we can’t wait for this one! The space is perfect for an evening of treats, tips, and treasures all the while meeting up with your favourite Sirens and some new ones!

• We highly recommend bringing cash as we cannot guarantee that stallholders will have the capacity to accept card payments. We will also be taking donations on the night for fun activities.
• Our "Feters" will be revealed in the run up to the event.

• As always, tickets are free but in response to community feedback regarding our donation process, we have also added the option to make a donation when registering, if desired. All donations will be used for future SIRENS events. We encourage in particular those who attend our socials on a regular basis/have made useful connections at our events to consider donating. Our Socials are paid for out of the personal pockets of our core Sirens, and so we really appreciate any and all support!

Accessibility and Transport Information for PINK:
"We are located on the 2nd & 3rd floor of Hilton House. From street level, there are a small set of steps to access the building. Once in the building there is lift access to the 2nd & 3rd floor. There are gender neutral toilets on the ground, 2nd and 3rd floors. There are currently no accessible toilets or baby change facilities. There are accessible toilets with baby change facilities in both Stockport Train Station (5min) and McDonald's (3min). Transport wise, we are a 5-min walk from Stockport train station and 5-min walk from the 192 bus stop, a super regular service from Piccadilly to Stockport. We are a 10-min walk from Stockport Interchange bus station for those travelling from other locations. There is an onsite car park but this is paid service and is done so via an app on your mobile phone. There is also on-street pay and display parking as well as several other car park options within 5-mins of the building."
