Lecture Synopsis: Is Corporate Governance 4.0 Emerging?
The environment in which companies operate has changed dramatically since the ground-breaking work on corporate governance led by the late Sir Adrian Cadbury. In our recent book on Corporate Governance 3.0, Dr Karl George, Simon Osborne and I navigate the reader through the evolution of corporate governance and make the case that boards need increasingly to provide stewardship to contribute to the sustainable long-term success of their companies for the benefit of society. Building inclusive, sustainable, and more resilient businesses for the benefit of humanity – and not just the shareholder or in the short term – is a company director’s emerging [obligation][duty].
