About this Event
IN THIS CLASS YOU WILL EXPLORE THE ART OF HANDBUILDING-- THE SLOW AND MEDITATIVE PROCESS OF MANIPULATING CLAY USING JUST YOUR HANDS, A FEW TOOLS, AND YOUR IMAGINATION.
MEXICAN CERAMIC ARTIST, MIA ANGEL OF ENCÁNTARO CERÁMICA GUIDES YOU THROUGH THE FUNDAMENTALS OF COIL, PINCH, AND SLAB-BUILDING, AND THEN HELPS YOU ON THE JOURNEY OF DESIGNING AND CREATING YOUR PERSONAL PROJECT.
NO PREVIOUS ART OR CLAY EXPERIENCE IS NECESSARY. MIA WILL PROVIDE EXAMPLES, BUT YOU ARE ALSO ENCOURAGED TO TAP INTO MOOD BOARDS AND YOUR DAILY LIFE FOR INSPIRATION ON WHAT TO MAKE--THE POSSIBILITIES ARE ENDLESS.

About the Instructor:
ENCANTARO is a love letter to the ceramic objects from my childhood. These contemporary reimaginings are made with the intention of being simple, imperfect, and timeless, like the Mexican cantaro--the ubiquitous water vessel treasured through generations.
