ABOUT THE JOHN JACOB NILES CENTER FOR AMERICAN MUSIC:
The John Jacob Niles Center for American Music at the University of Kentucky School of Music is a collaborative effort supported by the College of Fine Arts, the Appalachian Studies Program, and the University Libraries. Named after Kentucky folklorist John Jacob Niles, the Center focuses on American music research and performance, emphasizing southern Appalachian culture. Established by Dr. Ron Pen in 1997, the Center is housed in the Lucille C. Little Fine Arts Library and features the Niles Gallery and the Niles Study Room for private research. Dr. James Revell Carr currently directs the Center.
