Event Details: Come read or just enjoy the Single Onion's open mic Poetry Night. Happening the first(changed) Thursday of every month. Note our new home venue is Munch. Our new Host is Calgary's own Alicia Patience. Our Feature reader for this reading is John Williamson. Our MC for the night will be Paul Marshall. Don't you dare miss this new event at a very special new place.
Venue: Munch is on Tenth Street and 17 Avenue S.W. is Calgary's latest art incubator. It's a hot bed for all artists and the foodie community. Try the rotating food menu come for the art. All are welcome and all are excepted. This is a true safe space for ideas an art and the palate to be explored.
Host: Alicia Patience is an Co-Owner of Munch and a fine singer to boot.
Feature Reader John Williamson, AKA Dr. John, is a bi-identifying Mohkinstis / Calgary based poet and educator. John has competed for the national team poetry slam championship on the Calgary team, feature-performed often often at various venues in Calgary and Southern / Central Alberta, and published the Chapbook Broken and Strong: Family Fragments. John is also an executive member of the Can You Hear Me Now? provincial youth slam and, in another genre, published an award-winning PhD thesis in the form of a detective novel. John borrows his artistic motto from Emily Dickison “tell the truth but tell it slant”.MC: Paul Marshall is a local Artist and Actor.
