Synopsis: A Black singer-songwriter finally gets her big break, only to discover that her record label plans to replace her public image with an AI-generated white avatar. As she fights to retain ownership of her voice, her art, and her identity, she must decide whether survival in a digital-first music industry is worth the cost of invisibility.

Sing For Me is a viscerally relevant, original story by Cris Eli Blak that explores the impossible balance artists are forced to make between love, money, and survival. Love for our culture, love for our partners, and love for ourselves.

This play asks all of us in Los Angeles, and the entertainment industry as a whole, what happens when outdated business practices no longer serve us. Reclaiming our inherent value requires letting go of systems built on extraction and invisibility.

Sing For Me launches The Stonehaven Series, a monthly staged reading dedicated to preserving and uplifting the lineage of Black theatre. We plan to present historiographies from today to the African Grove Theatre in 1830.

Each reading is elevated by sound design, projections, themed mocktails and complimentary beverages, as well as a brief post-show dialogue that invites artists and community members into conversation about craft, context, and cultural legacy.

All proceeds support sustaining this series from 2026–2028.
