About this Event

Our very popular Mass Choir Event is finally back! Conducted by Kevin Fox (UK), the SING! You can choose to enjoy the concert as an audience member, bring your existing group to work with the pros , or join as an individual to sing with others in the Mass Choir!

Hear several of the choirs and ensembles showcase their own work, before coming together as the SING! Jessica is the custodian of the African Heritage, daughter of the amaXhosa nation and the pride of Africa. She is a founding member of the Grammy Award-Winning Soweto Gospel Choir and has traveled across the world including the longest tour of 37 cities in North America. She has also conducted cultural exchange programs in Australia, New Zealand, United Kingdom, South Korea, Europe, Netherlands, Denmark, West Africa and Jamaica.

Jessica was born in the dusty village of Nqamakwe Eastern Cape."My upbringing was privileged by rich culture and authentic traditions that were and still are practiced by my community. ' She went on and rubbed shoulers sharing the stage with South African legends such as Sibongile Khumalo, Hugh Masekela, Thandi Klaasen, Dolly Rhatebe, Abegail, Kubheka, Dorothy, Victor Ntoni and all those who belong to South African Mornach of Music.

Dumza Maswana is a South African artist well-known for the singular depth of his soothing baritone voice. He fuses tradition, spiritual and jazz to create sonic experiences that uplift, inspire and heal. Dumza writes and sings from a place of knowing, reflecting all that he has experienced and paying homage to his culture and the music that inspires him. Born in the vibrant small town of Ngqushwa, in the Eastern Cape, Dumza was drawn to music at an early age, a passion that moved him to form Healing Voices, an all-male gospel group he started at 17 years old, before moving to the City of Gold, Johannesburg, to further his musical interest. Having been influenced by the likes of Victor Ntoni, Sibongile Khumalo and Caiphus Semenya, Dumza’s lyrical prowess, wide vocal range and authenticity earned him a SAMA nomination for his debut album, Molo, which was released in 2016. The album was well-received, with gems such as Emihle, which was dedicated to his daughter, and Nomthandazo, which listed on 17 different radio stations, including Kaya-FM, Umhlobo Wenene, Radio 2000, Ukhozi FM and SAfm His song The Letter received the award for Best Jazz Song at the 2017 Mzansi Jazz Awards.

Theo Tams is rediscovering his identity as an artist. The Canadian singer/songwriter demonstrates a remarkable command of R&B-laced pop music, his silky tenor the unwavering guiding light. Since his last record, 2018’s Call the Doctor, what is most evident is his fearlessness to cannonball right into fresh sonic waves. The music drowns the senses, oozing with intimate lyrics and style.

Growing up in a fairly strict reformed Christian household in Coaldale, Alberta, Tams discovered a natural inclination towards music while attending church. Towards the end of the 2000s, Tams’ life changed, first through coming out to his parents and then by winning Canadian Idol.

Having released his debut album in 2009, as well as several EPs in recent years, Tams struggled navigating a post-Idol image and harboured a desire to branch out in his work. Now, Tams is unapologetically himself and it would seem that he has finally found his place in the world.
