About this Event

Wagner Rienzi Overture

Ravel Pavane pour une infante defunte

Takemitsu Fantasma/Cantos II

Nino Rota Trombone Concerto

Tchaikovsky The Nutcracker (Act I highlights)

Soloist: Blair Sinclair

Conductor: David Greed

The last concert of the season includes not one but two brilliant works written for the trombone by composers Takemitsu and Nino Rota, performed here by soloist Blair Sinclair of Opera North. These are performed alongside Wagner’s overture for the third of his operas, Rienzi, and Ravel’s Pavane pour une infant defunte arranged for small orchestra.

The finale to the 2023/24 season features highlights from Act 1 of Tchaikovsky’s music for The Nutcracker, celebrating one of the composer’s most famous works for orchestra and proving that Nutcrackers are not just for Christmas!
