A New Works festival featuring original plays by some of New Mexico's most exciting playwrights!
About this Event

Duke City Rep returns this February with a new works festival like no other! Featuring staged readings by local playwrights throughout Albuquerque, Sin Límites is a dynamic celebration of New Mexican voices. This performance's theme: Crescit Eundo. Crescit Eundo is New Mexico's state motto and this evening's plays feature New Mexican locations, legends, or communities as a focal feature.

FEATURED WORKS:

Off the Market by Holly Lovejoy: In an underground bar run by La Llorona, a sociable, Texan chupacabra turns small talk into a volatile debate about abortion and gentrification, exposing wounds that are anything but mythical. Starring Maria Teresa Busamante and Casey Powers, directed by Evening Star Barron.

An excerpt from Rabia by Evening Star Barron and Amelia Ampuero: In Southern New Mexico, a folklorist digs into the mystery behind a forgotten ghost town, only to find out there’s more to the story than just another urban legend. Starring Josh Browner, Robyn Casper, Isabella Figueroa, Maria Teresa Bustamante, Ana Rios, Catie Powers, and Bryanna Acosta, directed by Evening Star Barron and Amelia Ampuero

Coyote and Owl by Randy Barron: Two desert creatures seeking refuge discover that in a land of fences and ICE, no one is truly safe from being moved along. Starring Isaac Dean Carillo and Isabel Contreras, directed by Amelia Ampuero

Totally True Story of the Thing I Saw Before the Fire by Scotty Milder: A man recalls a terrifying thing that he witnessed as a child growing up in Los Alamos, NM. Except…the terrifying thing might still be happening. Starring Stanley Shunkamolah, directed by Josh Browner
