About this Event

Duke City Rep returns this February with a new works festival like no other! Featuring staged readings by local playwrights throughout Albuquerque, The Doors of Perception - a look through the multi-faceted lens of the human experience.

FEATURED WORKS:


Don't Say Race by Vicki Meagher: Two high school students successfully portray the Tulsa Race Massacre of 1921 without mentioning race. Starring Kane Distler, Jayla Franklin-Sullivan, and Jane Walsh, directed by Amelia Ampuero.


Coyote and Owl by Randy Barron: Two desert creatures seeking refuge discover that in a land of fences and ICE, no one is truly safe from being moved along. Starring Isaac Dean Carillo and Isabel Contreras, directed by Amelia Ampuero


The Less, The Better by Katie Farmin: When a self-proclaimed “nice guy” seizes the chance to pursue his longtime crush after her breakup, he spirals into delusion and desperation—only to learn that love isn’t a reward for good behavior, and the universe doesn’t owe him a damn thing. Starring, Kane Distler, Casey Powers, and Lena Stanley, directed by Josh Browner


Santa Delilah by Alex Gonzales Armbrüster: Santa Delilah tells the story of a young woman chosen by God to bear the next coming of Christ against her will. It is a story about faith and love and what it looks like when those things are abused. Starring Ana Rios, Noe Field-Perkins, Andy Gustke, Amelia Ampuero, and Evening Star Barron, directed by Rachel Sedillo.
