The student will translate ideas into their chosen material (dry or wet media) and then putting these ideas down on their chosen surface. Working simply requires skills and an understanding of materials. It also requires focus and patience with oneself.
In this online 3-week class, Emily will offer pre-recorded demos in: watercolor, gouache, soft pastel and oil painting in a Direct Method. Pre-recorded demos can be kept for future use. Presentations of contemporary and historical artists who approached Simplification in their work and other styles of art will be reviewed. Student may work from life or photo reference.
Everyone will have time to work during class and utilize individual and/ group critiques. Lectures, talks and documentaries will be provided as well as an online critique platform. She will alternate between lecture and music (jazz, classical) will students work.
