Join Art Muse lecturer, writer and art advisor Jennifer S. Li in an exciting dual-venue exhibition tour exploring the sculptural and installation work of Simone Leigh, the artist that represented the United States in the 2022 Venice Biennale—for which she won the top Golden Lion Prize. The day begins at the California African American Museum (CAAM) in Exposition Park and then segues to LACMA. Both institutions feature over two decades of work in ceramics, bronze, video, and installation as well as works from her celebrated 2022 Venice Biennale presentation. At the heart of Leigh's profound practice is the centering of the Black female, a powerful subject often overlooked and suppressed in Western culture and art history.
