Cambridge Town Hall Fundraiser – Simon & Friends
Join us for an electrifying mix of music and a stellar lineup of performers, all in support of the Cambridge Town Hall.
Award-winning saxophonist Simon Brew will be joined by friends including pianist Alex Wiltshire, singers Alice Collins and Noelle Savill and acclaimed classical guitarist Owen Moriarty. All proceeds from the evening go towards the restoration and preservation of our much loved historic Town Hall.
An evening of feel good entertainment is guaranteed with something for everyone; from composers Ennio Morricone to Astor Piazzolla, classical standards to funky solos and popular show tunes,
Simon Brew works as the General Manager of Cambridge Town Hall, and is donating his time and extensive experience as a musician to organise as well as perform at this fundraiser. Trained as a classical saxophonist, Simon has performed with the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, Rotterdam Philharmonic, and Netherlands National Orchestra. He’s also been Director of Music for the Royal New Zealand Air Force Band.
Alexandra Wiltshire spent 16 years performing internationally for such companies as Cameron Mackintosh Productions and Andrew Lloyd-Webber’s The Really Useful Company. She’s toured with and performed in the largest musicals throughout Australia, Asia and further afield.
Noelle Savill studied voice and music theatre in Chicago, and recently starred as Munkustrap in Cats with the Hamilton Operatic Society. She’s also been involved with the Hunchback of Notre Dame for Hamilton Operatic, Legally Blonde for Morrinsville Theatre and Young Frankenstein for Hamilton Musical Theatre, and directed Flashdance for Riverlea Theatre.
Alice Collins has appeared on most stages in the region, having studied and performed in both opera and music theatre genres. She starred in the Riverlea Theatre show Young Frankenstein as Frau Blücher. For Hamilton Musical Theatre, she played The Lady of the Lake in Spamalot, Madame de la Grande Bouche (The Wardrobe) in Beauty and the Beast, and Domina in A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum. She is also a judge for the Zony Awards, which recognise excellence in musical theatre in New Zealand.
Owen Moriarty completed his Master's at Massey University in 2003, before heading to the US where he studied at the University of Southern California (Los Angeles) with James Smith and Los Angeles Guitar Quartet members Scott Tennant and Bill Kanengiser. t). As one of New Zealand's most sought-after chamber musicians, Owen is a touring artist with Arts on Tour and in 2015 completed his 8th tour with Chamber Music NZ. He has also given concerto performances with the National Capital Orchestra (Canberra), the Dunedin Symphony Orchestra, the Nelson Symphony Orchestra, the Devonport Chamber Orchestra, The Massey University Orchestra, and the Livewires Guitar Orchestra.
Having performed all around New Zealand, in recent years Owen has also given performances in Australia, the USA, Portugal, Mexico, Thailand, Spain, China, and the United Kingdom.
