Simchat Torah, Rejoicing with the Torah. We'll have casual pizza dinner and a wonderful family-friendly celebration and service where we completely unroll and reroll the Torah as we finish reading and prepare to start again. We request a $5-10 contribution per person for all dinner events unless otherwise noted. Thank you for your support. You can contribute ahead of time on our website or in person the night of: https://ncjcc.org/donate/. No one will ever be turned away for lack of funds.
Simchat Torah means “rejoicing in Torah,” and this holiday is a true celebration of Torah, the original five books of the Bible. On Simchat Torah we celebrate the end of one Torah-reading cycle and initiate the beginning of the next, by unrolling the entire Torah scroll into the hands of community members in the NCJCC’s beautiful backyard before rolling it up again. Simchat Torah teaches us that Torah is a never-ending cycle of learning and discovery. Every ending leads to a thrilling and dynamic new beginning. As we pass the Torah into the hands of children, parents, and everyone beyond and in-between, we see that this sacred text belongs not to an elite few, but to all of us. It is our community’s most precious gift and our faith’s most cherished inheritance.
