Ever dream of making a movie? Then the Silver Screen Filmmakers Club is for you! We will meet as a hybrid class from July-October of 2024. There are 25 slots available. This free workshop is geared toward people aged 65+ and is sponsored by a Lifelong Learning Grant from the Indiana Arts Commission. Members will learn how to shoot short documentary films on their phones and work as production teams. Additionally, you will learn a brief history of filmmaking, basic graphic design, color theory, video editing techniques and audio tips. If you do not a have a phone or a mobile device to use in class, IUN’s CURE is generously providing equipment to borrow (limited number/selection).
The course is being taught by Award-winning writer/ filmmaker, Jessica Renslow and graphic design guru, Gretchen Sipp. Ms. Renslow lived and worked in Hollywood for a decade and now resides in her hometown, Gary, Indiana. Ms. Sipp began her design career working with musicians on album covers across Chicagoland. She now is focused on the intersection of art and business.
*Hybrid Sessions: This series will alternate between meeting in-person at the IU Northwest campus (2nd Friday of each month) and meeting online via Moodle (an online Learning Management System). A meeting schedule and location specifics (i.e., building and room number) will be provided via a confirmation letter that is sent after registration. Instructions for accessing Moodle will be provided during the first in-person class.
