Cornudas Cafe in Cornudas, Texas has a long history, The cafe has been owned by several families over the years, including the Tinnin Family, the Derrick Family, and "Mayor" May Carson. Carson bought the cafe in 1982 and reopened it in 2009 after her grandson, Jeff Campbell, inherited the town and closed it for renovations. Campbell reopened the cafe in October 2020. The cafe is known for its home-style cooking and its "best green chili cheeseburger in the Southwest". It's also a convenience store for travelers between Carlsbad, NM and El Paso, TX or Las Cruces, NM. The cafe is known for its interesting decor, including old photos, license plates, and sarcastic signs on the walls. The cafe is part of a town that also includes a gift shop, gas station, hotel, RV park, and campground.
