Our May social will be Forest Bathing with Madeleine Gerdes from Mad About The Forest. Madeleine is one of our former speakers and a Certified Forest Therapy Guide who brings a wealth of information about the Japanese practice of Shinrin-Yoku, a form of nature therapy that’s based on ancient Shinto and Buddhist traditions. Here’s more from Madeleine’s web site: “Forest bathing is a slow walk in the forest or nature where enough time is given to relax into and immerse in the present moment. No exceptional skill or physical exertion is required. It is an open ended experience that brings people into a deeper relationship with natural spaces…” Sounds amazing, doesn’t it!
You’ll want to bring the following: water, hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, comfortable shoes that are easy to get on and off, and an open heart. Dress in layers given it may be cooler at the start of our adventure.
We’ll meet at the Rose Garden (look for rainbow flags!), will do forest bathing for about 2 hours, and then will have lunch at a nearby restaurant. Cost for the forest bathing is $35 per person and lunch is no-host. If you’re curious about the work that we’re doing, this is a great way to meet club members and hear more!
