This event recognizes the annual giant space party celebrated around the world! April 12 marks the anniversary of when Yuri Gagarin, the first human who ventured into space, completed an orbit around earth aboard the Vostok 1 capsule on April 12, 1961. Twenty years later on April 12, 1981, the inaugural launch of the first Space Shuttle occurred.
