Join us for our second Silent Book Club meet up of 2025. Our first two book exchanges took place on a weekend. Some of you couldn’t make that and we listened. We are joining forces with West MI Social Club to host our very first joint book exchange on Thursday, January 23rd, at Archival Brewing. What is Silent Book Club? Founded in 2012, SBC is an international movement with over 1,000 chapters worldwide. Also known as the introvert’s happy hour, these twice monthly meet ups at venues around the greater Grand Rapids area allow you to get out with whatever you’re reading, discuss books with other like-minded people, or simply keep to yourself and enjoy the company of others.
West MI Social Club boasts over 12,000 members from the region. Currently, we can’t think of a better or more welcoming group to join in order to meet and connect with other people. Regardless of age or orientation, you will find clubs and activities that fit your interests.
How does the book exchange work? Bring in however many books you please. We will have tags set up by genre so it’s easier for people to browse. You don’t need to bring books to participate, but we ask that you give preference to those who brought books before you browse.
We will also break at 7:30 and have a discussion about what we’re reading. In the spirit of keeping this a true ‘introvert’s happy hour,’ participation is optional.
The fun starts at 6:00 pm and ends at 9:00. While SBC meets are free to attend, please remember to support any local business opening their space up to us so we can convene. See you then!
