S igns of Safety Introductory Briefing
Duration: 3 hours
Target Audience: Any practitioners who work with children & young people, an introduction to the signs of safety practice framework that is used across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.
Session Aim & Objective: The Signs of Safety model for working with children and families has been adopted by the local authorities of Leicester, Leicestershire & Rutland. The use of the model will be seen in a range of assessment and multi-agency activities that support and safeguard children e.g. Child Protection Conferences, Core Groups, Children's Social Care and Early Help referrals and Looked after Children reviews etc.
This half day introductory briefing session will provide:
•An awareness of the basic principles, values and key elements of the approach.
•Understanding of how the approach will be used in practice to support children, young people and their families.
•Opportunity to reflect on how the approach will be reflected in your day-to-day practice.
Competencies met with this course:
1 – There will be space for discussion regarding a case or specific incident stated how the daily lived experience of the child had been considered.
5 – This will be a multi-agency briefing and sharing information and the barriers to do so will be discussed.
6 – The multi-agency briefing will look at understanding attendees own roles and who else is involved in assisting children to meet their potential.
12 - The briefing will discuss how to contribute to assessments of children using the Signs of Safety approach.
26 – As this will be a multi-agency briefing, there will be a discussion about the role agencies play as well as their limitations.
27 - The multi-agency briefing will look at understanding workers own role and who else is involved in assisting children to meet their potential.
28 – The multi-agency briefing will discuss how agencies can contribute in court and legal meetings.
