Join us at The Turner House gallery for this third SIGNATURES: Conversations on Photobooks event celebrating the humble SHED as both architectural and photographic muse.
The afternoon event forms part of a weekend of talks to coincide with the '' exhibition by photographer Jon Pountney and illustrator and designer Lee John Phillips, showing in Penarth's Turner House gallery until 22 February 2026. Jon and Lee will discuss their work in the gallery on the afternoon of Saturday 7 February at 2pm.
Whether you're a seasoned photographer or just starting out, this event is the perfect opportunity to immerse yourself in the world of photobooks and hear from those who have published their work.
Free but limited tickets are available for this event in the ground floor gallery. Doors open at 11.45am and the first talk will start 12.30pm. Each talk will last up to 45 minutes with a Q&A, after which a selection of books by the guest speakers will be available to purchase. Timings for talks are listed in the Agenda below.
SIGNATURES: Conversations on Photobooks are events with guest talks by photographers. Organised by , the events offer photographers and enthusiasts in the medium the opportunity to meet and learn of personal experiences in the planning and production of photobooks with publishers or through self-publishing.

The Architectural Shed: an introduction

Info: Architectural academic, artist and writer Paul Davies will share a brief introduction on Shed history in Architecture.

Great Little Tin Sheds of Wales
Host: PETE DAVIS
Info: Photographer Pete Davis will show and discuss his project made in and around Mid Wales through the 1970-1980s documenting the many forms and functions of Sheds constructed from corrugated iron. The work was exhibited widely in Wales, UK and abroad during the 1980-90s, with the accompanying small exhibition catalogue published by Ffotogallery quickly selling out. Offline Journal collaborated with Pete to create a new and expanded 'REDUX' version as part of its ongoing CATALOG series of affordable contemporary photography publications in and from Wales.

Some Las Vegas Strip Clubs

Info: Photographer and academic Julie Cook will discuss her 'SOME LAS VEGAS STRIP CLUBS' project made over five years in the 2000s, documenting their exteriors landscapes in daylight and interiors with the lights up but minus strippers and patrons.
"They invite fantasies of what might take place when the lights are down but at the same time reveal the illusion that construct them. A tribute to Ed Ruscha and his work on popular culture." – Julie Cook
The resulting photobook 'SOME LAS VEGAS STRIP CLUBS' has been recently republished as a new edition.
