About this Event
Outdoor Leadership Training (OLT) is a requirement to becoming a trip leader for Sierra Club NYCICO, but also a great training opportunity for any volunteer interested in becoming better in group settings in the outdoors and also sharing valuable experience. If you are a NYCICO certified leader and haven't taken OLT since 2021 then you are required to recertify. This training is FREE!
Volunteers must complete 2/3 of the training modules online at their own pace prior to March 15, 2025 when we have the in person section at In-Tech Academy's Library at 2975 Tibbett Avenue Bronx, NY 10463.
This training trip fulfills the ICO Certified Leader requirement for Outdoor Leader Training, by incorporating theory and hands-on skill sessions in the following areas, and more!:
-- Working with Youth
-- Our Commitment to Equity Goals
-- Planning and Conducting a Trip
-- Games!
-- Connecting with Conservation and the Environment
-- Incident Management
If you are not currently a Sierra Club member, w hen signing up for this training, you will receive choices of dates to meet for a virtual New Volunteer orientation and receive information on how to become a Sierra Club member (in order to be able to complete the online modules).
