On Tuesday 7th October, we return to Biocafé Tellus with a piece of powerful cinema that is perfect for this autumn’s film season: Kevlar Soul, the striking debut feature from Swedish director Maria Eriksson-Hecht. As always with our events, the film will be shown with English subtitles, and we’ll gather before and after the film in Tellus’s cozy café to meet, connect, and reflect on the film together.About the Film:
Set is Sweden's rough industrial outskirts, Kevlar Soul is a powerful coming-of-age drama about the fragile bonds of family, love, and survival. Alex, a teenager forced into adulthood too soon, becomes caretaker to his younger brother, Robin. Their fragile equilibrium is disrupted when Alex meets Ines, a confidant and spark of hope. For Alex, love becomes a way to imagine a life beyond his daily burdens. For Robin, it feels like a threat—a fracture in the symbiosis that has kept them both alive.
Praised for its raw emotional intensity and striking visual language, Kevlar Soul confirms Eriksson-Hecht as one of the most vital new voices in Nordic cinema. With an almost tactile sense of closeness, the film captures love, violence, and survival at the margins of society. Critics have celebrated its unflinching honesty, its nuanced performances, and its atmosphere—tender yet brutal—that lingers long after the credits roll.
