Another Swedish classic at Tellus! On 19th November we return to the charming community run Bio Tellus in Midsommarkransen, to watch the classic Roy Andersson film ‘Songs from the Second Floor.'As always at our events, the film will be screened with English subtitles, and we will gather after the film to meet each other and connect. This will be in Tellus own cozy cafe/bar, with hot food available and drinks available before and after the showing.
About the film:
“Songs from the Second Floor” (Sånger från andra våningen in Swedish) is a black comedy-drama film from the director Roy Andersson. Released in 2000, the film presents a series of disconnected vignettes that together interrogate aspects of modern life.
One evening, somewhere in our hemisphere, a strange series of illogical events take place: a clerk is made redundant in a degrading manner; a lost immigrant is violently attacked in a busy street; a magician makes an error in his act. In the midst of this mayhem, one person stands out: Karl. While the new millennium is casting its web and creating a vast mental breakdown, Karl gradually becomes conscious of the absurdity of the world and realizes just how difficult it is to be human.
