The Goltraí Tour: Lifeblood/LamentGrief is an essential thread in the fabric of life, woven into culture, story, and song. In Irish tradition, music carries three noble strains—Suantraí (lullaby), Geantraí (joy), and Goltraí (lament)— gifts said to have come from Lugh himself, the many-skilled god of the Gaels. Of these, Goltraí is the music of sorrow, a songline through loss and longing that deepens our connection to each other, to our ancestors, and to the land.
In Lifeblood: Lament, Siarimis explores this essential tradition through Scottish and Irish songs and stories, honouring the keening voices of the past and the echoes of grief that shape us still. Through melody and tale, we gather not to dwell in sorrow, but to affirm that grief, like music, is lifeblood—vital, necessary, and shared.
