We look forward to welcoming our guest speaker, Leila McDougall โ entrepreneur film maker and passionate advocate for women in agriculture.
Originally from a sheep farm in Walcha, NSW, Leilaโs career has evolved from fashion designer to rural teacher, and now to a filmmaker, where she is making significant strides.
A decade ago, Leila founded the not-for-profit organisation ๐๐ช๐ท๐ฆ ๐๐ถ๐ณ๐ข๐ญ, and through the โ๐๐ฆ๐ญ๐ญ๐ฐ๐ธ ๐ช๐ฏ ๐ต๐ฉ๐ฆ ๐ ๐ฆ๐ญ๐ญ๐ฐ๐ธโ events raised over $60,000 annually, to support the health and well-being of farmers and their communities.
Leilaโs latest venture is the feature film โ๐ ๐ช๐จ๐ฉ ๐ ๐๐๐ง๐ข๐๐งโ, released in March 2024 and produced on her familyโs farm in Ararat, Victoria. Delving into themes of mental health and the vital contributions of farmers, the film aims to shift perceptions and ignite discussions about the realities of rural life.
Leila is a powerful mentor and role model, championing the cause of mental health in the agricultural sector and encouraging the next generation of female leaders. Her work embodies a deep-rooted passion for her community and a commitment to using her diverse talents to effect real change.
