About this Event
Join us for an intimate, hands-on oyster shucking class hosted by Chef Romo in honor of culinary legend Jacques Pépin.
Chef Jacques taught America how to cook at home and embrace fresh, seasonal ingredients. His passion for food education has inspired chefs and home cooks alike—including all of us at Hog Island Oyster Co.
In his honor, we’re hosting a special week of hands-on oyster shucking classes at our Napa Oyster Bar, with 10% of ticket sales donated to the Jacques Pépin Foundation to support culinary education.
Each class will be led by Chef José Romo and limited to just 12 guests for a relaxed, interactive experience.
- You’ll kick things off with a glass of bubbles, then dive into the world of oysters—learning about species, farming methods, and what makes Hog Island’s oysters unique.
- Next, you’ll grab your knife and glove for a 30-minute shucking session, guided step-by-step by Chef Romo.
- We’ll finish with an oyster tasting and send you home with your own shucking knife and glove, so you can keep the fun (and the oysters) flowing at home.
Join us October 27–31, 3:00–4:00 PM daily, for a toast to Jacques, a taste of the sea, and a celebration of learning through food!
