About this Event
Shroud I: Intro to Shrouding
Join us for an intimate, hands-on workshop dedicated to the sacred practice of shrouding a body. Led by Jill Schock, founder of Death Doula LA, attendees will learn about the significance of shrouding in the movement toward greener and more eco-friendly burials, step-by-step techniques for proper body mechanics and preparation, and the importance of honoring the deceased with dignity and care.
Whether for personal knowledge or professional development, this workshop provides invaluable insights into a time-honored practice that ensures a compassionate and respectful farewell.
What to expect: Participants will be paired up and will be touching and moving their partners body. We want particpants to get to feel for and understand the mechanics of how to move body weight, being willing to be hands-on is important. This workshop honors bodies of all sizes.
What to wear/bring: You'll want to wear comfortable flexible clothing, and bring water. Bring a sheet of any size if you are able. We will have an actual burial shroud available for participants to practice with as well.
