About this Event
Edison House presents Great Salt Lake Shrine on April 24th from 7 to 9 PM, a unique event celebrating the natural beauty and ecological significance of Great Salt Lake. This evening promises a blend of interactive experiences, insightful education, and artistic reflection, all aimed at raising awareness for the conservation of this important ecosystem.
In keeping with the tradition of past Shrine Series events, a special Shrine will be installed at Edison House two weeks prior to the event. In collaboration with the Great Salt Lake Hopeline, a voicemail art project that amplifies community voices, the Hopeline becomes the focal piece for this version of our Shrine. The Hopeline invites individuals to share their thoughts, memories, and hopes for Great Salt Lake.
The Shrine will then be moved and magnified for the event and will serve as a powerful tribute to the collective voice of the community, celebrating the beauty and significance of Great Salt Lake while encouraging dialogue and reflection. Visitors will have the opportunity to experience this unique project up close, leading up to and seeing a beautiful transformation of the Shrine for the evenings event.
6:30 - 8:00 PM - Learn and Amplify
The evening kicks off with an introduction to the Shrine series and a look ahead at the night’s events. Attendees will gain valuable insights into Great Salt Lake’s environmental importance and the vital work of FRIENDS of Great Salt Lake, a non-profit dedicated to preserving and protecting the lake through education, research, advocacy, and the arts.
- Screening of Protection in Perpetuity, a short film celebrating the 30-year anniversary of FRIENDS of Great Salt Lake.
- A Q&A panel featuring experts and advocates from the field.
8:00 - 9:00 PM - Explore and Reflect
The second and third floors of Edison House will be open for exploration, where you can engage with thought-provoking visual art and immersive soundscapes that reflect the spirit of the Great Salt Lake.
