FAQ from Assured Document Destruction, Inc.
What can be shredded? There is no need to remove staples, paper clips, rubber bands, file folders acco fasteners, large clips, or expandable accordion files. Our shredders are tough and can power right through these items. Contents of 3-ring binders should be emptied because we need to keep the paper free from plastic for the recycling aspect.
What CANNOT be shredded? Food waste, personal hygiene items, large metal objects, bullets, toner cartridges, pills, hard drives, and other non-paper items cannot be shredded. Hard drives can only be shredded separately as there is a high fire risk; please call for details on this service.
What about the boxes? Our driver will empty your boxes into one of our collection containers and then tip that cart into the shredder. You can either save your boxes to reuse, ask the driver to break them down (if not heavy duty and overly taped) and place them at, in, or near the dumpster (if available and nearby), or, if there is no dumpster available, you can request a box pickup (an additional charge may apply to box pickup). Please keep in mind that most storage units do not allow customers to use their dumpsters.
