This course will focus on evaluation of the shoulder girdle, differential diagnosis and critical thinking discussion, case study review, and live case study analysis. Orthopedic manual therapy techniques (OMT) will be taught including at least one AC joint technique originally developed by the instructor.
Participants should come prepared to actively participate in laboratory sessions for upper quarter. This will mean shirts off, sports bras, or swimsuit tops for optimal analysis of the scapula, etc.
Course objectives:
- Be able to perform an orthopedic differential diagnosis of the shoulder girdle.
- Be able to perform OMT techniques to the entire shoulder girdle including the SC, AC, GH Joint, Scapulothoracic articulation.
- Recognize when the problem involves more than the shoulder girdle.
- Be able to recognize how critical thinking in the examination process and follow-up visits are critical to the use of OMT intervention.
- With LIVE case studies, be able to gain an improved comprehension of evaluation and use of OMT.
- Be familiar with OMT treatment techniques for the shoulder girdle.
<h4>Special Guest Instructor: Jeff Giulietti, MPT, ATC, OCS, CSCS, COMT, FAAOMPT</h4>
Mr. Giulietti is sole owner and co-founder of Eugene Physical Therapy, LLC which celebrated its 20th anniversary last year. He is also Founder of Cutting-Edge Seminars, Inc. He has previously been Adjunct Professor at Oregon State University in the Athletic Training Curriculum and has been published in the Journal of Athletic Training. He has taught original course work in DYNAMIC PROPRIOCEPTION© since 2003 and many other areas of musculoskeletal care. His graduate research was Proprioception of the Lower Extremity and has been his area of interest and expertise his entire career of 35 years.
