WRITERS WANTED: For a performance with a difference!
A short story slam brings shy, reclusive writers out of from behind the cold comfort of their laptops and into the light in front of a live audience.
What is a short story slam?
In a hugely entertaining event, 12 writers - who usually sit alone in a dark corner of their homes huddled over a laptop - break out of their comfort zones and read their stories in front of a live audience.
They do this in pairs. Then the audience, who are either thrilled, excited or revolted by what they have just heard, vote their favourite writer through to the next round (every audience member will be given a red and white to hold up when casting their vote). There are 12 writers - and ultimately only one winner.
£100 prize to the winner.
The 12 writers start the first round in pairs, with one going through to round two. The six writers in round two read out a new short story, again in pairs, with the winning three progressing to the final!
Audiences love the interaction of being part of the event, without any of the pressure of performing. Writers love it that their words get heard.
Everyone is happy.
Audience = memorable experience.
Writers = unforgettable experience.
One writer = £100 for winning.
