Join us for a relaxed afternoon at ScrapAntics with Artworkers for Palestine Dundee. We have some films about Palestine selected for kids, including some animations made with kids in Gaza. We will have some craft materials and activities available too. Tickets are free with an optional donation when booking to the Sameer Project.
The films:
Coming home (2022), 11mins. Directed by Naim Naif and Margot Bowman. Language: English.
Palestinian-American dancers in Brooklyn maintain a vibrant connection to their homeland through dabke, a traditional Levantine folk dance. A joyful, electric celebration of Palestinian heritage shot on 16mm.
The Road to Palestine/ l-tariq illa Filastin (1985), 7mins. Directed by Layaly Badr. Language: Arabic with English subtitles.
Seven-year-old Layla β who has been badly injured in an air raid β lives in a refugee camp outside Palestine. Layla and her friends describe how they imagine Palestine, despite never having seen it.
Saturday Cinema (2025) approx 10mins
A series of short animations created by displaced children in Gaza in weekly workshops with animator Haneen Koraz. Despite the hard conditions, the workshops offer kids a creative way to express themselves. The paper cut and drawn animations tell stories of daily life in Gaza. Haneen has generously sent us the films to watch in Dundee. Haneen is also fundraising for materials and food for the kids who attend her workshops.
Glasgow to Gaza (2025) approx 10mins
Animations made by children in Glasgow for children in Gaza at Al Jawad Camp and The Gaza Collective. Featuring drawings, animations and voices by: Arlo, Bonny, Cece, Celeste, Eimear, Frida Sue, Lexi, Mairead, Mayar, Nancy, Niamh, Oko, Orla, Otis, Rosie, Sammy, Sana, Serena, Violet and Zain.
Content notes:
- The films feature loud sounds and depictions of violence.
- Depiction of life in refugee camps, statelessness and life under occupation.
- Themes of loss, death and war.

- The films are suitable for young people attending with their families or a responsible adult
- The films are all very short and you can move around in the space while they are on

Tickets are free with an optional donation when booking. We will be fundraising for the Sameer Project, a donations based initiative led by Palestinians in the diaspora, working to supply aid to displaced families in Gaza.
The screening is part of on a programme of events in solidarity with Palestine held on the weekend of the anniversary of the Balfour Declaration (1st-2nd November) as a collaboration between Art Workers for Palestine Dundee and ScrapAntics.
About Art Workers for Palestine Dundee
We are a group of artists and art-workers who have gathered to coordinate locally, standing with the people of Palestine at a time of immense horror and genocide. Our events and campaigns aim to energise and make visible support for Palestine in our community and in the arts. We urge the organisations and institutions we work with to commit to meaningful action.
