About this Event
After a successful screening in Puerto Rico, the short film "Lo Que Me Quitó María" is having its Los Angeles screening — join us to witness the story of Víctor, a father who, along with his children Amanda and Yo-Yo, struggles to rebuild his life in the mountains of Puerto Rico after the loss of his wife and the hardships of living without electricity or running water. This moving piece offers an intimate look at the emotional and physical scars left by the hurricane on so many communities across the island.
Directed by Omar Luis Meléndez as part of his master's thesis at Loyola Marymount University's School of Film and Television, the film will be presented in commemoration of the anniversary of Hurricane Maria.
Come celebrate a story of resilience, strength, and hope with us.
We look forward to seeing you!
