Short Film Screenings Many wonderful short films are being made in India. Filmmakers are at work in their own regions, devising bold, new ways to experiment with form and technique. Short Film Corner hopes to be a showcase for these films and open a dialogue between the filmmakers and their audiences. Mr. Sawant’s Residence? Marathi Film with English Subtitles (10 mins) Mr. Sawant’s Residence? is a gripping short film that explores the unforeseen consequences of a happening that occurs by a strange quirk of fate, leading to a chilling chain of events that shatters lives. Directed by Aditya Khude Tick-Tock Went the Clock Hindi & English Film with English Subtitles (11 mins) Karan Kumb, a young corporate employee who struggles to wake up on time, loses his opportunity to land a promotion. What follows is a story of a man who has completely lost his sense of time and when he tries to make a change in his life, it might be too late. Directed by Anirudha Mane Censorshit Hindi, Marathi, English Film with English Subtitles (22 mins) The movie begins with a scene that eventually leads to a blurred shot (of a backside), censored by the censor board. Cut to a police station where a group of writers are being interrogated for threatening the chairman of the censor board. A conversation unfolds between the writers and a police inspector regarding the censorship of their film. The inspector finds them foolish and lets them go with a final warning. As they leave, they request their prop gun back, which they had used to harass the chairman, and in the process, discover a real gun on the inspector’s table. The scene cuts to the room where they contemplate using the real gun against the chairman. Will they give in to their thoughts?
