Throughout the film, Zoya interacts with her surroundings as if she’s re-calibrating to them. As the plot unravels, so does she. In this story, appearances can be very deceiving. Raj and Priya, dreaming of a better life, suffer a humiliating experience on their anniversary at the beach, caught up in a police raid. Despite their attempts to bribe their way out, they end up at the police station, filled with shame and disappointment. Returning home, the family shares a heavy, silent dinner.
