Short Fictions

Here’s short fiction for the Pittsburgh band Short Fictions. If a viral tweet claiming 2019 as “the last season of America” were to come true at any point in the next few months, that untimely end might be more than the sum of its parts.

With an expansive lineup of multi-instrumentalists and a fair share of genre alchemy, Short Fictions unravels the fabric of what the end of times means for us in the right now on Fates Worth Than Death, their most calculated and focused work yet. By attaching cinematic weight to tales of climate change, both external and internal, this East Coast outfit has become a force of nature that pushes against giving in to anything bigger than a packed basement. Welcome to the neighborhood.

Perspective, A Lovely Hand To Hold

Sounds like cheeseburgers.

Johnny Football Hero

Johnny Football Hero is an emo/post hardcore band from Philadelphia consisting of Reilly James (guitar/lead vocals), Misha Datskovsky (drums)and Addison Rider. The band has released two EPS, “Long Walk off the Short Pier” in 2019, and “Complacency” 2021- the latter of which has garnered some attention from the DIY Emo scene in recent months. Receiving praise for blending stylistic motifs of post hardcore bands like Dance Gavin Dance and The Fall of Troy, with the sound of 5th Wave Emo, exemplified by bands like Ogbert the Nerd and Carly Cosgrove.

❗ ? PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING BELOW ? ❗

For all shows in the months of October, November, and December, R5 Productions will require all guests to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Proof of vaccination may be given in the form of a paper copy or digital image of a guest’s vaccines card or other documentation showing you are at least two weeks past your final dose.

Unfortunately, negative test results alone will not be accepted at this time. Over the past two weeks we have had to turn away dozens of fans, because their test results have been delayed or other various issues with Philadelphia's testing infrastructure. This policy may eventually change if testing improves in the city.

On the evening of the show, when not eating or drinking, we kindly ask all guests to wear a face mask for their own protection, as well as that of our staff, and the artists performing. Almost all of the artists playing have made this request themselves and it is one we fully support.
