About this Event
Located in present-day western India, the Maratha Empire can be traced back to its founder, Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Even now, tales of his bravery are told as part of the folklore because they are remembered so vividly. Shivaji, through his bravery and excellent leadership, separated a small territory from the waning Adilshahi sultanate of Bijapur (Mugal empire). After consolidating power, Shivaji established a competent and progressive government supported by a well-trained military and a robust bureaucracy. Shivaji is revered for his unconventional military strategies that relied on factors such as geography, war strategy, and surprise to defeat more formidable foes.
On Shivaji Jayanti, we celebrate the life and legacy of Chhatrapati Shivaji, whose valorous deeds will continue to serve as an example to future generations. In honor of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj's birthday, "#ShivajiJayanti," let's resolve to always do the right act and bring integrity to our country. On February 17, 2023, at 18:00 Hrs., the Gandhi Centre will organise Shivaji Jayanti to celebrate the Maharaja's birthday.
