She remains the youngest ever female finalist of the British Open to the World Dance Championships and the only woman to win it with two male partners.
Following her competitive career, Shirley became a highly sought-after coach and teacher to many of the world’s top dancers. Today, she is beloved by millions as Head Judge on the BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing, where her warmth, wisdom and sharp eye for talent have made her a household name.
