About this Event

South Australia's maritime history and shipping memorabilia is explored in a slideshow of stunning images from the State Library of South Australia’s collections including photographs, lantern slides, shipboard diaries, rare books, menus and children’s toys.

Your forebears may have emigrated on the City of Adelaide clipper ship or maybe your family took the Gulf Trip on MV Moonta—if so revive some memories with us. In stormy seas we discover the wrecked SS Admella and the Star of Greece. In gentler waters you will encounter rivercraft from paddle steamers to Popeye, and revisit childhood memories of classic books on boating.

In more recent times we learn about the wonderful Paul McGuire Maritime Library and its local donors.
