Shinnyo Lantern Floating Hawaiʻi is a ceremony conducted with the heart of offering gratitude to all spirits, of all forms of life, that have supported our existence since the beginning of time.Join us as we commemorate our 25th anniversary by gathering in person at Ala Moana Beach in Honolulu, Hawaiʻi, or by watching the live telecast or internet broadcast from anywhere in the world.
Everyone, regardless of belief, is welcome to take part in this physical expression of love and remembrance for those we miss.
How to take part:
- Come to Ala Moana Beach Park on Memorial Day. This event is free and open to all. No reservations or tickets needed.
- If your family or group would like to float an Individual Lantern at the event, learn more here: https://lanternfloatinghawaii.com/individual-lanterns/
- If you choose to participate in person but not float your own lantern, you may write a remembrance that will be added to one of the Collective Remembrance Lanterns. These are floated by volunteers from the canoes. Learn more at https://lanternfloatinghawaii.com/collective-remembrance-lantern/
- Those unable to join us in person may submit an online remembrance through our website or the Shinnyo Lantern Floating app. Submissions received before 11:59pm 5/27/2024 HST will be placed on Collective Remembrance Lanterns and floated from canoes at the event.
