Shine On, BoroCentre Square & Middlesbrough Town Hall

A thousand years ago, a great cat fell asleep and began to dream — of light, laughter and a town alive with imagination. This November across 22nd & 23rd November, her dreams spill into Middlesbrough with glowing artworks, performances and creative moments for all ages.
Marvel at the enormous Cat That Slept for a Thousand Years by Air Giants — a 10-metre, purring creature that responds to your touch.
Dance with your shadow in Shadowdance by Impossible.
Wander among shimmering installations including Stellar Creates’ The Stars Come Out at Night, Stitching Light (আলো দিয়েগাঁথা) by EEA, and Paradise Carpet by Zarah Hussain.
Explore Boro Blooms, a beautiful night garden created by local community groups
Roving performers will surprise and delight, from Roll Up, Roll Up by Hannah Fox to Whippet Up’s glowing Ammonites (Saturday only).
Head inside Middlesbrough Town Hall to find storytelling in the Crypt and join in with free drop-in arts activities for families — a space to make, imagine and play together.
This event is free to attend and on Sunday 23rd November, is part of Middlesbrough Council's Light Switch On celebrations.
