Join us for a workshop where you’ll create your own Zoomorphic Angel articulated puppet, using paper collage to blend animal and human forms.Angels have been depicted in art for centuries, from divine messengers to guardians and even fallen beings. The imagery of angels as winged humans (child or adult) is believed to have roots in ancient Egyptian and Phoenician “winged sphinxes,” which combined human and animal forms. Fred Mehta’s hybrid animal/human “Zoomorphic Angels” represent peace, protection, and spirituality.
Following a tour of the exhibition, Inez Edwards and India Mehta will guide you through a mindfulness exercise designed to focus your creative energy. You’ll then bring your own zoomorphic angel to life – drawing, painting, and assembling a one-of-a-kind angelic puppet that symbolises peace and protection.
