Shiitake Cultivation Workshop

Growing Shiitake mushrooms outdoors on hardwood logs is a beautiful, centuries-old practice originating in China and Japan. Participants will learn how to select logs appropriate for Shiitake cultivation, prepare and inoculate logs, select a good site for incubation, and learn how to encourage yield. We will get the chance to tour Morven Kitchen Garden’s inoculation area and production Shiitake yard, where Farm manager Fiona will describe the maintenance and labor required to meet our production goals. All ticket proceeds go to supporting the Morven Sustainability Lab. If our ticket price would constitute financial hardship, email [email protected] to organize a reduced rate.
