About this Event
Before moving to Chattanooga and founding the nonprofit, Beloved Woman, Sherry Cothran fronted a popular rock band, The Evinrudes. As the lead singer, she took the band to a #1 hit song on rock radio, record deals on Mercury Records, NY, and Flying Sparks, London, and many tours in bucket list venues, sharing stages with the Goo Goo Dolls, Bare Naked Ladies, Spin Doctors and other popular rock acts of the late 90’s/early aughts.
Cothran celebrates her 8th album with a special release show at Barking Legs Theater on May 23rd, 7 p.m. Cothran will be backed by her band, 30 Grit: Chattanooga pros, Zach Loveless (drums), Dran Michel (guitar) and Tony Smith (bass.) The show is also a benefit for Beloved Woman, celebrating 4 years in Chattanooga of helping women create a pathway to a living wage through entrepreneurship.
Chattanooga’s own celebrity comedian, MS. LOL, a 2024 Beloved Woman graduate, will open the show. With over 300,000 followers on Tik Tok, MS. LOL has performed across the nation at iconic venues such as the Laugh Factory in Hollywood to the Apollo Theater in Harlem.
Cothran recently reunited with the original Evinrudes to create her new album (release date, May 23rd). Co-created with former partner, Brian Reed, and backed by the band’s original members; it showcases a delightful return to her “distinctive, hickory smoke vocals.” (The Star, UK, David Dunn) Mixed and mastered by Dran Michel at Chattanooga’s Deadbird Studio, the album stays true to her “hypnotic, dazzling sound.” (Robert K. Oerman, Music Row Magazine.)
